Is it me, or does it seem that you and I had at least one night like that back in the day, surely inspired by The Pogues' "I am going, I am going / Where Streams of Whiskey are flowing." Though I am sure we woke up feeling this way, too:
"Two corn-porters, named Healy and M'Nulty, were found in a lane off Cork-street, lying insensible, with their boots off, which they had evidently used to collect the liquor."
An aside: I think corn-porter was the 1875 equivalent of what Sparky Lyle did to cakes 100 years later.
